National oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is reportedly considering oil and gas exploration projects in Bolivia. Global energy and commodity market business intelligence provider Argus Media last week cited Bolivian state-owned enterprise Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) as saying both companies' presidents met in Brazil during the Rio Oil and Gas conference, which was held from Sept 26 to 29 in Rio de Janeiro.
Bolivia s Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy Franklin Molina said the agreement with Brazil for the sale of cooking gas signed during the arguably illegitimate administration of Janine Áñez was detrimental to his country and will now seek to reach a new, more favorable deal.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro complained that Bolivia s state-owned oil company Yacimientos Petróliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) funneled 30% of the gas that was to be sold to Brazil and sent it to Argentina as a part of an “orchestrated plan” against him and added Petrobras was behind it.
Luis Arce’s government commits itself to delivering a daily 14 million cubic metres of gas to Argentina this winter, the same volume as last winter; Amount could rise to 18 million if Brazil’s energy requirements are lower.
