the material was marked with the highest levels of classification that exists, material that is meant to be held only in secure government facilities not at a private club where basically anyone can pay for membership and wander around. arguably, the agent s most alarming finding that we were able to see in this redacted version was that the boxes contained classified information that came from human intelligence sources meaning if the documents were mishandled, leaked or transmitted they could compromise the identity of american intelligence assets and the affidavit also lays out why doj had good reason not to believe or trust trump and his lawyers knowing that back in february of this year, after the archives notified congress that there was classified material and what they got back from mar-a-lago, trump put out a statement that very fact. investigators write this, quote, there is probable cause to believe that additional documents that contain classified national defense
the new information that was unsealed today and the potential national security implications for the country and legal ramifications for donald j. trump. let s bring in brandon. thank you so much for being with us. i know you don t do a lot of this, but we re grateful that you are here today. yeah, thanks for having me. so, what should we make of the fact that the classified documents, they weren t schedules, they weren t mementos. they included things like human intelligence with the marking human, fisa material, original originator control, which means that the agency that had created the intelligence product didn t want it to be disseminated without their input. intelligence that wasn t to be released to any foreign nationals, not to be shared with other foreign leaders or others, and signal intelligence, some of the most classified and sensitive intelligence because it also reveals a method for gathering. what do we make of someone
for the little stuff. the response to be, we are considering this as part of a broader investigation, and we will defer our prosecution decisions until we have all those fisa material and, if, indeed, that is the real reason. mr. mccabe, we just had d documents come out a week or so ago, i think we talked about it here. 14 leaks exposed at the senior levels of the fbi, fbi special agents, not one prosecution. one of those leaks highlighted in these documents that we received is the mccabe leak, and the detail is, lack of candor, under oath, and lack of candor not under oath. both of which would be crimes if any other american committed at, especially when you look at mccabe s desire to go after flynn and ambush flynn with those fbi agents sent over with strzok, the idea that flynn, who did not lie to the fbi then, according to the evidence, that this man would be allowed to get
doing and the intelligence that they were gathering and the work that they were doing, so their concern is that this is just going to show a one-sided sort of way this investigation was going. thereby making it seem political, discrediting fbi agents who have spent months now, perhaps more than a year, working on this case. and because really the fbi can t talk about this, they can t talk about fisa material, they can t really defend themselves. their only defense was that statement, and that was obviously a stunning statement. as we wait to see this memo, which is three and a half pages, it s not very long, i want to read to you what senator john mccain, who is the chairman of the armed services committee in the senate. he is back in arizona dealing with treatment from cancer, but he said just now, the latest attacks on the fbi and the department of justice serve no
sunlight, i still don t agree with that, i don t think you re a law unto yourself. this is concerted leaks designed to attack the sitting president. i think the character of the leaks are different. i think comey s leaks are part of that bushel. is attorney general sessions, in your opinion, doing enough or is the russia recusal he entered into handcuffing him as he does this investigation of leaks? we don t know that he s doing enough. so i ve prepared a letter, we re going to be sending that next week. i imagine i ll have a number of colleagues joining it, asking the justice department to look into all these things, but then report back to us whether they are doing it or not. hugh, you know, you re knowledgeable on national security. we have certain intelligence authorities coming up for review this year. if you don t have anyone being prosecuted that was fisa material, you won t be able to reauthorize 702 of the statute due by the end of the year.
