Franklin Town officials say one person was killed and two others injured in an accident involving two cars and a tractor-trailer Thursday on Route 32 in Franklin.
The accident occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the area of Meeting House Hill on a stretch of Route 32 called Franklin Hill. A portion of the road was shut down until late Thursday afternoon. Details on the cause of the accident and the names of the people involved were not immediately available from state police.
Franklin First Selectman Charles Grant, who confirmed there was a fatality in the accident, said the town’s Board of Selectmen has been discussing drafting a letter to state police in light of several serious accidents on Route 32 over the past few months. There was a fatal accident involving an ambulance on Route 32 on March 25.

Franklin State police on Friday identified a Norwich man who was killed Thursday in an accident involving two cars and a tractor-trailer Thursday on Route 32 in Franklin.
Ramon Pantoja, 37, of Norwich, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Thursday morning after his car was struck head on, according to Connecticut State Police Troop K.
The driver of another vehicle, 23-year-old Jason Santos of Willimantic and passenger Danielle Perry, 23, of Windham, were both seriously injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the area of Meeting House Hill on a stretch of Route 32 called Franklin Hill. Santos was driving southbound when he tried to pass a tractor trailer by moving into the northbound lane. He struck Pantoja s car head-on in the northbound lane.

FRANKLIN For Franklin resident Jocelyn Constant, the town doesn’t need to have an affordable housing plan, and that anyone who is working can make rent in the town.
“Personally, I think people need to start living within their means, and not look for handouts,” Constant said.
Like other municipalities throughout the state, Franklin is currently working on an Affordable Housing Plan, which is a state requirement. In Franklin, residents are being surveyed on the matter. Carly Holzschuh, Franklin town planner and a planner for the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments, said it was first posted to the town’s website back in December, but the survey has gotten more attention after the town sent a postcard flyer last week.
