Summer hours and new exhibits at First Ladies National Historic Site
The Repository
The Education Center is open and free of charge, but the Saxton Home remains closed.
The Education Center consists of three different museum exhibits, as well as a historic theater with a documentary film.
New exhibits have just been installed for the summer season: Defining Her Role: The First Lady’s First 100 Days, which examines this key time span for the office of the first lady; I Thee Wed: The Marriage and Influence of Ida and William McKinley, which celebrates the 150th wedding anniversary of the Saxton-McKinley wedding; and an exhibit on the life and work of African-American fashion designer Ann Lowe, best known for making the wedding gown for Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.
