STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The NYPD’s newly appointed chief of department comes with decades of experience in law enforcement, and a lifetime of perspective as a Black man in America.
In a recent interview with the Advance/SILive.com, Chief Rodney Harrison spoke about his upbringing in the Rochdale Village section of Queens, a predominantly Black community with historical ties to the civil rights movement, as well as the future of policing and high crime rates.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Faith leaders on Staten Island have been making examples of themselves by getting vaccinated, and sharing it publicly, to help dispel myths and address vaccine hesitancy in their communities.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A new Spectrum Learning Lab has opened at Central Family Life Center, Inc. (CFLC), a Stapleton-based non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives and environment of the Staten Island community.
On April 8, the celebration of the new Spectrum Learning Lab was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at CFLC’s Staten Island headquarters at 59 Wright St. that included local officials, leaders from CFLC and Spectrum.
