IBC and its 3,000 employees took home first place in the evaluation in Texas while also finishing third in Oklahoma. The Laredo-based company was founded in 1966. Forbes featured 135 companies which qualified to be their Best Bank list out of the 4,978 FDIC-insured banks in the US that were considered. Each state had between one and five banks that were listed, giving them a Best-In-State award regardless of their overall placement in that actual state.

Angel investor tax credit; workforce roundtable; First Bank honored; USDA grants

Applications Open for Kansas Angel Investor Tax Credit Program TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced last week that applications are being accepted for Kansas startups seeking investment through the Kansas Angel Investor Tax Credit (KAITC) program for 2021. The program offers Kansas income tax credits to qualified individuals investing in new Kansas businesses.  Eligible entrepreneurs include those engaged in the development, implementation and commercialization of new and innovative technologies, products, and services. The Kansas Department of Commerce administers the program that is designed to encourage investment in Kansas startups. The legislature extended the program last session through bipartisan Senate Bill 66, including updates that changed credit investment amounts, increased budget appropriations and more.

Jaden Miller named lender at First Bank Kansas The Salina Journal First Bank Kansas has announced their recent hire of Jaden Miller, who has joined their team as a lender at the Salina branch located at 235 S Santa Fe. Miller brings an extensive knowledge of the agribusiness industry. He was raised on a farm in Harper, and previously worked at Smithfield Foods out of Crete, Neb., in the hog procurement division. Miller has a life-long passion for agriculture and continues that today through both his professional and personal endeavors. Miller attended Kansas State University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Agribusiness. He enjoys cheering on the Wildcats, playing golf and basketball, working on the farm and, most importantly, spending time with family.
