rules, that you do have a right to your first amendment freedom of speech, you do not have a right to your security clearance and you need to follow the rules of the u.s. government. you can set your own rules. one of the biggest threats as far as access to classified information is when you have an individual gone rogue who is setting their own rules and deciding their own moral compass supercedes i think it s important to very publicly make an example that this conduct by this man right now is exactly what disqualifies you and will result in losing your security clearance. i think it s great that he s making a public example of this man. how does this play out in the political world? the intel chief. will this last? will it have any effect as you see it? the problem, david, is that
terrorism and we heard the president say that he condemns the violence on many sides. he said many sides twice in that statement. so he s implying some kind of moral equivalency between this bigoted hate that is spewed against women and jews and the counterdemonstrators. do you see a moral equivalency here? well, i think all sides have to respect the first amendment freedom of speech, as horrible as it is sometimes to hear people say ridiculous and horrible and anti-semitic things, they have a first amendment right and if you look at the protests earlier this summer, july 8th, there were 50 protesters and 1,000 counterprotesters and i think sometimes there s a few elements who decide to start fighting and the whole thing gets out of hand and to me when the president said that, that s what i assume
that s off base, and so policy, yeah, duke it out, go at each other the rules change. everyone gets all worked up on that. you still got first amendment freedom of speech. within that freedom we ought to choose voluntarily to treat each to follow the golden rule. treat people like you want to be treated. i mentioned this in the town halls back home. believe it or not, despite what people perceive, most of us, including dave and myself, get along very well here. whether it s on the members gym, or the house floor. we have very different views but we ve gotten along, actually came in together. that s more common than people realize. is it possibly common under the dome, but when you get on news shows, talking to reporters i think we all have the responsibility to check ourselves in wait that we speak. i will point out in times when i m working with one of my republican colleagues back home and we re working on important
