Kabul, Jan 14 (efe-epa) – Regional legislator of the western Afghan province of Ghor, Ezatullah Big, was killed on Thursday in a shootout with Afghan security forces while trying to avoid arrest, leading to tension in the region due to calls for revenge by his armed supporters.
The incident occurred shortly before noon in Firozkoh, the capital of Ghor, when security forces tried to arrest the member of the Provincial Council for allegedly being responsible for the death of another parliamentarian and a journalist.
A member of the security forces was also killed in the shooting, while two other Afghan troops and two of the Big’s bodyguards were injured, Ghor’s Governor Noor Muhammad Kohnaward told EFE.

KABUL (Reuters) - An Afghan journalist was shot dead in a car ambush in the central province of Ghor, the fifth media professional to be killed in the country in two months, officials said on Saturday.
Bismellah Adel Aimaq, 28, the editor-in-chief of Sada-e-Ghor (Voice of Ghor) radio station, was killed near Firoz Koh city, the capital of Ghor, on Friday.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
“Unfortunately, Bismellah Adel Aimaq, the head of Sada-e Ghor Radio, was killed by unknown gunmen this evening in Firoz Koh.
“He was 28 years old, and started working with Sada-e-Ghor Radio since 2015,” said Habibollah Radmanesh, the deputy governor of Ghor.
