Apple, wer sonst? Das kalifornische Unternehmen, das gerade mit neuen Rekordzahlen die Anleger begeistert, ist unter den Fortune Global 500 die Firma, die den meisten Profit macht. Letztes Jahr lag Apple noch auf Platz 3. Der Konzern legte um 5,5 Prozent beim Gewinn zu, erzielte 274 Milliarden US-Dollar. Der Öl-Konzern Saudi Aramco beklagte einen Gewinnverlust von 30,3 Prozent und fiel auf Platz 2 zurück.
Zwischen April und Juni 2021 hatte Apple 81,4 Milliarden US-Dollar Umsatz gemacht – ein Plus von 36 Prozent Jahr über Jahr gerechnet. Beim Umsatz konnte die Firma damit in der Fortune-Liste von Platz 12 auf Platz 6 hochschießen. Nur Walmart, State Grid, Amazon, China National Petroleum und Sinopec Group machten noch mehr Umsätze. Corona hat Apple und anderen Tech-Konzernen ein massives Wachstum beschert. Besonders Laptops und Tablets verkauften sich wegen Homeoffice und Distance Learning besser als je zuvor.
