it doesn t get much more important to that. norm eisen, ambassador, we have a good point here which doesn t have to be mutually exclusive that james comey acted inappropriately during the campaign and that his firing yesterday is extremely suspect. your take on it? well, whatever you may think of the campaign conduct and there is a debate to be had about the rules and there is some proper criticism. the timing of the firing and the frankly, blatant, open pretextual nature that was because of comey s conduct during the campaign that trump and sessions had previously embraced, that s a lie. it s the latest in the trump big lie strategy and the fact that there is a falsehood together with the timing just as these rumors and i was hearing them all day yesterday before cnn broke the story of the grand
straight to the point. huckabee sanders will fill in for the morning briefing. she will stop by for a live interview. joining us, jonathan swan. take us inside the firing yesterday, the white house saying it was in the works for a couple weeks. james comey did a number of things that displeased donald trump. for anyone that knows donald trump, it is not that hard to imagine what they are. he contradicted donald trump publicly, which is the worst thing he can possibly do. he did that over the claims that obama wire tapped donald trump. he then also refused to help the white house push back against media stories related to the fbi, russia probe. he said during testimony last week which was televised, we know how much television donald trump watches, he was mildly nauseous that his comments in

and fbi director asked for additional resources to speed up this probe. that s according to sources telling cnn earlier this afternoon that justice department has said look they were not asking for more money here. but there was a sense here at the white house that there was an expansion of this probe. that led to the agitation i m told and that s what led to the firing yesterday. but wolf, interestingly, the communications department here at the white house and others did not know about this at all until shortly before it happened. yeah. and then they scrambled a few hours later to get on television and make their case. all right, jeff zeleny, thanks very much. comey s firing is raising deep concern among democrats about the future of this entire russia investigation. our justice correspondent pamela brown is working this part of the story for us. pamela, democrats are outraged. that s right. tonight there are growing calls among democrats for special prosecutor in the wake of t
