Rural areas to benefit from €61 million fire service funding Several rural areas are set to benefit from funding announced this week under a new Fire Service Capital Programme. Darragh O’Brien, the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, announced €61 million for the new programme, which will see the construction of six new fire stations, as will as continued financial support for a further 12 new fire stations; nine fire station refurbishments; and the allocation of 35 new fire engines. Each county will see at least one new fire engine delivered. The delivery of fire engines will take place in two tranches.

The announcement was made by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD, today (Tuesday) as part of the new €61 million Fire Service Capital Programme. The programme will see 6 new fire stations built, continued support for the construction of a further 12 new fire stations, 9 fire station refurbishments and 35 new fire engines allocated nationally. Leitrim County Council has been allocated one additional fire appliance as have neighbouring Counties Roscommon, Sligo, Longford, Cavan and Donegal.

Kildare Fire Service gets allocations in new funding plans announced by Minister Reporter: );   ); The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD, has today announced a new €61 million Fire Service Capital Programme. A new fire station building will be constructed at a cost of €3.5m in Maynooth in 2022. The town will also be allocated a new fire engine.  Baltinglass is also getting a new station building costing €1m in 2022 as a site has been allocated and a design has been completed. Dunlavin will also see a new station built in 2022 at a cost of €1m.
