A massive fire broke out at a five-story building in Ganesh Chandra Avenue of Central Kolkata on Thursday. Fire tenders are present at the spot, and efforts are underway to control the fire.

KOLKATA: At least seven people were killed in an inferno in a multi-storeyed building in Kolkata, which houses zonal offices of Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway on Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.
Two more persons were also feared dead, said Banerjee who has gone to the spot.
Out of the seven deceased, four were firefighters, one assistant sub-inspector posted at the Hare Street police station and one RPF personnel, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Basu said.
The seventh person is a senior official of the Railways.

At least seven cylinders exploded during the fire, making it difficult for the firemen to contain the flames.Â
The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet. No casualties have been reported so far. The reason for the fire is not yet known. The firemen are fighting it tooth and nail and hopefully, it will soon be
under control. We have emptied the entire area. There were several blasts, which could be because of the gas cylinders, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said.
