The Beloit Police and Fire Commission appoints Captain Andre Sayles as the next Chief of Police.
Sayles joined the City of Beloit Police Department in 2005 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 2013, to lieutenant in 2017 and to captain in 2020. Sayles holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Iowa Wesleyan University. He currently is seeking his Masters of Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Criminal Justice Management from UW-Platteville. He will be sworn into office this spring.
Sayles says it is a great honor and privilege to follow those who have made the City of Beloit Department a place of honor and respect, and he’s looking forward to continuing that work in the department and in the city.

BELOIT, Wis. The Beloit Police and Fire Commission has appointed a captain from the Beloit Police Department to be the department’s next chief.
The commission voted unanimously to appoint Captain Andre Sayles to the position.
“We are extremely pleased that after a nationwide search, we had two internal candidates rise to the top and remain there until the end,” Beloit Police and Fire Commission President Rongal Watson said. “This really speaks to the quality of the public servants that we have working for us in our community at the Beloit Police Department.”
Sayles currently oversees the department’s patrol division, tactical operations unit, crisis negotiations unit, community service officers and community outreach efforts. He first joined the department in 2005 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 2013, to lieutenant in 2017 and to captain in 2020.
