i remember him leaking on camera when the president had covid, and he was actually caught on camera talking to reporters about going off the record. i mean clearly the president never cared about the fire wall that is supposed to exist. mark meadows served in congress in theory shouldn t he have known what actions are frowned upon in the federal government or just at this point does he not care in his career? i think that if congressman mark meadows had still been congressman marked me don t go away, and these kind of activities had been taking place under a democratic presidency, i think that person congressman meadows would have had a lot to say about this. i think like everybody else who ends up in the swirl of a former president trump s orbit many of them end up being pressed to do things they don t want to do and how they handle that is the question. there are plenty of things over time that meadows did try to slow down and so for instance, the former president tried to fire c
and certainly i m concerned that the president is going to try to bully senate republicans into turning the process in the senate into a side show. but i also know that if we do get into a fight over witnesses, the credible witnesses are the ones that are telling the truth. if mcconnell wants to parade rudy giuliani before the united states senate, i don t think that s going to turn out very well for them. but i will say my understanding is that those negotiations on process in the senate for the trial have not begun in earnest yet. on ukraine, this obviously all centers around that conversation that the president had with ukraine, what democrats have said is this pressure campaign on the ukrainian president. chris ray has said that he has no information to support the theory that ukraine interfered in the 2016 election, despite comments by the president s allies that that happened. the president is tweeting about chris ray this morning saying he has an attitude, notably calling him
playing out here? what it highlights is what appears to be a tension between president trump and his fbi director. remember, chris wray is a trump appointee. trump picked him out after he fired james comey comey which kicked off the inception of the mueller investigation. now we have the president himself basically saying he doesn t think chris wray is doing a good job. the issue this presents for wray, if you read through the inspector general report, they didn t find evidence that affected the investigation. for the president to suggest that bias was a problem when the attorney general hasn t found any evidence of it puts the fbi director in a really tough spot. he has to choose between a multi hundred page document trying to suss out, trying to find any evidence of politically informed wrongdoing which is not there in that document or taking from president trump as an article of
has been may be on the line here? that another fbi director could end up fired? well, and president trump has made it absolutely clear if you re in law enforcement and you don t line up with his political priorities, your job is on the line. i wouldn t be surprised if the president tried to fire chris wray, but that would be a national security disaster for this country. chris wray is a patriot. i may not agree with him on everything, but he is trying to defend this nation from domestic and foreign attack and i just think it would be incredibly dangerous if the president continues to try to fill all of these law enforcement roles with his political cronies. but what chris wray is saying is absolutely true, this is a fiction that ukraine interfered in the 2016 election. it s just a smoke screen to try to distract the american people from what really happened and what president trump was trying to make happen with ukraine in the 2020 election.
