Port Clinton moves to put fire levy renewal on ballot

PORT CLINTON - The city of Port Clinton will again be asking local voters to renew the 1.9-mill fire levy in November. On Tuesday, Port Clinton City Council took one of the first steps toward putting the issue on the ballot for the Nov. 2 general election by passing a resolution declaring its necessity. The 1.9-mill renewal levy for providing and maintaining fire department services was initially passed in 2016 and was set for a period of five years, making its last year of collection 2021. The proposed renewal would be for an additional five years at 1.9 mills, which would first be collected in 2022, according to the resolution.
