Jefferson moves forward in aftermath of Town Hall fire April 28, 2021JEFFERSON In Jefferson, following the devastating fire earlier this year that destroyed the Town Hall, things are business as usual. The Town Offices have been up and running at the old Jefferson Elementary School, now known as the Jefferson Community Center (JCC). Jefferson Fire Chief Chris Milligan says progress is being made on all counts. We re in the process right now of cleaning up the site at the old Town Hall. Eventually, the Library and the Historical Society will be moved to the old school. That was the plan prior to the fire, said Milligan.

The crews held their ground

February 11, 2021JEFFERSON Last Monday evening at around 7 p.m., DOT Patrol Foreman for 108 in Jefferson, Andrew Brundell, was making his rounds while the North Country awaited a Nor Easter that promised to bring several inches of snow and heavy winds. While on patrol, Brundell drove past the Jefferson Town Hall when he spotted a glow. Jefferson Fire Chief Chris Milligan said, He was coming off of 116 when he noticed a glow between the Town Hall and the Fire Station. He stopped, then immediately called it in to dispatch. Milligan was working dispatch that night when the call came in. Jefferson Fire Department Captain Larry Coulter was the first on scene. While there, he immediately requested mutual aid. Upon arrival crews attempted to tackle the blaze from inside.
