are clearly no substitute for real ones. feel the clarity. and live claritin clear. there is a lot of drama behind the scenes at the miss america pageant. the current miss america, cara mund, claims she was bullied by pageant officials, including chairwoman gretchen carlson. in a letter to past miss america she writes our chair are
appropriate? but i am an employee and i need too response to my boss. there s standards of how to treat employees. how is this going to be resolved? i m not sure. that s a good question. having open and transparent communication will be the first step. so, again today, as you sit here, are you what are you calling for? are you asking gretchen carlson to sit down with you with other them? is that what the next step would be here? i ve continuously written and mentioned i would like in the written communication, if we meet, i want former miss americas there. that s important so we can get both sides of the story. at the same time, 44 state organizations saying they have a vote of no confidence, there will need to be more changes made to make sure miss america lives on for years later. cara mund, miss america 2018, thank you for sharing your side of the story. thank you. we re following a lot of news so let s get right to it.
what does it mean, keep in the the family? that i wasn t supposed to go to the board anymore. we had five staff resignations, we had two members of the board resign, we had two members asked to step down. i went to staff and bord members and eventually my sisters and that letter ended up going public. gretchen carlson says that she has tried to resolve things with you. here s her statement. since her letter was posted i have reached out to cara via phone, text and e-mail to try to speak as i have felt this is the best way to air grievances and find resolution. cara s response has been that she only wants to communicate via e-mail but i remain hopeful we can speak on the phone or in person soon. did you refuse to request to speak on the phone. what happened, when this letter went public i was so nervous that i would be called a liar and that s what happened. the statement was released from the organization saying it s not true, gretchen did a people
to see it live on so to air those concerns i think is importance but at the same time i think making sure we re open and transparent. do you worry you ll lose your crown before the next person wins? it s always a possibility. my contract says i can be fired at any time and without cause. have you felt that s going to happen? not necessarily. a statement came out yesterday saying they won t. no, we won t fire cara mund. the hope is for a peaceful and steadfast resolution as attention is focused on the show in atlantic city next month. that s forceful. at the same time there was concerns before my letter went public. there was 22 states asking for a resignation. when the letter came out it s up to 32. resignation of who? of the leadership. are you calling on gretchen carlson to resign? not necessarily but instead i
systematically silenced me, marginalized me, reduced me and essentially erased me in my role as miss america. i am not comfortable with any of us being controlled, manipulated, silenced or bullied. gretchen carlson has denied these allegations. in full disclosure, i know gretchen carlson, i worked with her at fox, we reached out to invite gretchen carlson on the program but we have not received a response. joining us is miss america 2018, cara mund, thank you for being here. thank you for having me. how did it get to this point that you are feuding with the chair gretchen carlson about what your year has been like? i never intended for this to go public and i started voicing concerns in january. i went to staff members. it continuously seems to have gotten worse. what has been happening with you. like stated in the letter where i felt like i was being silenced. i wasn t being considered a member of the staff.
