good evening and thanks for joining us. sign, sealed and delivered. surprising news out of sacramento tonight. california actually has a budget before the drop-dead date. governor jerry brown signing the deal this afternoon. the $86 billion budget relies on economic improvement rather than tax extensions. while many are relieved the budget is done not everyone is happy with what s in it. state universities took a big hit, $1.3 billion cut. public school also have less and will have to make do with less, $3 billion in payments are delayed and 70 state parks will be closed. this must budget will affect almost all of us. among the changes, commuting in the bay area, beginning tomorrow it will get more expensive. toll also increase on bay area bridges for vehicles with more than two axles. that includes big-rigs and cars towing boats or trailers so if you re heading to the sierra, bring extra cash. public transportation fare also also rice, the san francisco municipal transpo
the presidio. the presidio ceremony, one of the largest of its kind in the nation. an estimated 2500 people turning out today, memorial day. there was a special tribute to the 70th anniversary of america s entry into world war ii. a veteran reflected on the sacrifices of his fellow service members. there are a lot of fellows who sacrifice, not only themselves overseas but they rished a lot of things relinquished a lot of things like going to school, and other enterprises. and the camaraderie that they built was tremendous. the featured speaker today, a retired major general who commanded the marines who freed kuwait city in the first gulf war. speaking today, mayor ed lee. state senator leeland yee. and assemblywoman fiona moss. a 2 is gun salute part of another major memorial day commemoration, this one in oakland this morning. and the ceremony at mountain view cemetery featured the placing of a wreath. today s ceremony was the 90 the annual at the site. and in oth
medow if it weren t for our light. under a canopy of redwood trees vandals struck sawing a bench in half. someone has come and take to this with a saw. reporter: but it didn t stop there, another bench was damaged and six trees knocked down. including six redwood trees. you can see the cut here. these trees, one, two, three. and we have a few more town that way. reporter: this latest incident follows several others. every attack has taken place at night and no one has been arrested. you live right on fullton so when you see people going in at 8:00 or 9:00 you know it s that crowd. you shouldn t go in with them. reporter: you guys just stay out at night. yeah. reporter: police acknowledge that at nightfall it can provide cover for illegal activity. police say they ve stepped up patrols but they say they need the help. the way you keep the park safe is by practicing safe park use. reporter: reporting live at golden gate park amber lee, ktvu channel 2 news.
