BEAF and Bournemouth Coastal BID help to produce striking artwork

Carol Maund, director of Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe (BEAF), who commissioned the artwork, spotted the pair and invited them to get a closer look. Jason, of Owl Hawk Experience, said: “I was just sitting in the precinct with Elton when Carol and Sonia came running over. “They couldn’t believe how much Elton looked like the mural that was being sprayed onto the wall. “And when we returned after it was completed it was uncanny and I’m sure Elton appreciated it.” Artist Krishna Malla had spent three-and-a-half weeks creating the street art, using over 80 tins of paint and 30 litres of emulsion to prime it.

Crime-fighting app is launched in Bournemouth

AN APP has been launched in a bid to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour as Bournemouth prepares for its busiest summer ever. Those signed up to the Disc app can report street drinking, rough sleeping, graffiti, damage to street furniture, fly-tipping or other anti-social behaviour. It has been introduced by Bournemouth Coastal BID and will operate in Westbourne, West Cliff, East Cliff, Pier Approach, Boscombe, Southbourne, Pokesdown, Tuckton and Hengistbury Head. An influx of visitors is expected this summer due to continued uncertainty around foreign travel. And authorities are keen to avoid a repeat of last summer where a major incident was declared as crowds got out of control on the beaches and surrounding areas.
