RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The country is living its worst moment since the start of the pandemic, according to the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). The institution has prepared a ranking of the capitals with the highest ICU Covid-19 beds occupancy rates. It is the most critical situation since the first cases were registered a year ago, says Margareth Portela, researcher at the Fiocruz Covid-19 Observatory. At least 12 states and the Federal District, which reached 96% capacity in its intensive care units on Friday, February 25th, have been placed on high alert.
