Five years since the fall of the self-proclaimed Islamic State group caliphate, at least 42 Australian women and children are in indefinite detention in northeast Syria. For mothers of boys, there's a constant fear their sons could be forcibly separated from them amid reports of boys as young as 10 being removed and, in some cases, sent to adult prisons.
