BILLERICA At first glance, Emma Barber appears to be a typical, energetic 5-year-old girl. Like most kids in kindergarten, her favorite part of school is recess, she is making friends and she has taken a liking to the classic school science experiment of mixing baking soda and vinegar. But Emma has to navigate life differently than most kids.
