Capital Market Advisory Council meets “Reforms will be introduced after taking input from all the relevant stakeholders” APP July 20, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The establishment of Capital Market Advisory Council (CMAC) was long overdue as capital markets can improve risk-sharing and the efficiency with which capital is allocated to the real economy, thereby boosting economic growth and development, said Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin. Chairing the first meeting of CMAC on Monday, he said that the underlying rationale of the body was to attract investors, especially the ones with lesser resources, to contribute to the capital markets so that their limited resources could be channelised into productive uses.

Photo: Files Finance minister says government carried out an extensive consultative process to work out the modalities of Kamyab Pakistan Programme. Programme shall extend micro-loans to entrepreneurs, small business and farmers at 0% markup without collateral.  Key focus will be to provide loans to 4.5 million households at the lowest strata, registered with the NSER of Ehsaas Programme. ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin lauded his team for the development of the Kamyab Pakistan Programme, saying that it will be launched soon, reported The News.  The finance minister on Saturday commended all concerned officials who made efforts in designing the programme and taking it forward towards its formal launch, which is scheduled to take place soon.

Steps to broaden tax base reviewed - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: The progress on broadening the tax base and integration of retailers into the ‘Point of Sales’ (POS) system by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was discussed at a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin. The finance minister told the steering committee meeting on Monday that the government has incentivised the retailers by giving tax credit on electronic cash registers in the federal budget for 2021-22. The underlying rationale is to give incentives to tax payers in order to broaden the tax base and at the same time reiterated to take stern action against tax evaders who are not willing to be part of the tax net, he said.
