Parks board, staff looking at renovating, not eliminating pool

Parks board, staff looking at renovating, not eliminating pool Oakridger Oak Ridge city staff now say it s unlikely the Oak Ridge Outdoor Swimming Pool will shut down early this summer because of chlorine issues, nor in the future because of structural problems. The city Recreation and Parks Department assessed the amount of chlorine left for this summer season and what’s needed and said it believes it has enough chlorine to last until it can order more after the Oak Ridge City Council meeting July 12. Many people have expressed fears of delays or even a pool closure after an action by Mayor Pro Tem Rick Chinn. He cast the sole nay vote in June on a measure to spend an amount not to exceed $60,000 to purchase chlorine briquettes.
