SPRINGFIELD Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and the City Council, in a long-standing dispute regarding oversight of the Police Department, believe new court filings will show that history is on their side.
Attorneys for Sarno and the council recently submitted briefs and exhibits to Hampden Superior Court Judge Frank E. Flannery. The judge is considering a lawsuit brought by the council last fall seeking to force Sarno to reinstate a civilian police commission. It’s unclear when he will make a ruling.
