Documentary Final Account Is a Look at the Last Living Generation from WWII Germany at the Virtual KCET Cinema Series on May 13

Q&A immediately following with associate producer Sam Pope. Through an intimate look over ten years at an entire generation of people, documentary director Luke Holland reveals a historic portrait of the last living members of Adolph Hitler s Third Reich. From German and Austrian civilians to former SS members, now-elderly men and women offer memories, perceptions and self-appraisals of their own role in World War II and the Holocaust. “My hope for Final Account is that people will think about its historical importance, but also that people will think about their own place in today’s inordinately complex world,” says Holland. “How do we become aware of when we’re participating in a crime, however subtly? How did some of these people I interviewed not know they were implicated in these terrible crimes until things had gone too far? I hope the film provides an opportunity to reflect on this. And the optimist in me says these lessons can still be applied.”

Focus Sets Summer Release for Doc Final Account

Focus Features is teaming with Participant to release the late director Luke Holland s documentary Final Account. Wednesday s announcement coincided with International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
