Towards Implementation of Women’s Rights in the Colombian Final Peace Accord: Progress, opportunities and challenges Format Executive summary 2020 marks the fourth year of implementation of the Colombian Final Accord, the 20th anniversary of the signing of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, and 25 years since the Beijing Platform for Action. This report considers the gender commitments located in the text of the Final Accord as identified by the Kroc Institute, their implementation progress, opportunities and challenges. The report reflects upon the additional challenges in the face of the global pandemic and five priority areas: territorial transformation, political participation, security and protection guarantees, reincorporation, and victims’ rights.

Ex-FARC accept responsibility for kidnapping in War Crimes case

February 19, 2021 Within the 30-day timeframe allocated by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) tribunal for the representatives of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla to accept charges of War Crimes for kidnapping and Crimes against Humanity, Rodrigo Londoño, FARC’s former senior commander, accepted responsibility in a statement issued Thursday. Londoño, known by his nom du guerre “Timochenko,” and leader of Comunes co-signed the document along with five former members of the guerrilla’s Secretariat. “We assume our responsibility and call on the other actors to join the same path,” reads the statement. “The war in Colombia included various political and military actors, national and foreign, the recognition of our responsibilities is fundamental to guarantee the non-repetition of the events.”
