City welcomes film hub pledge
The City of Fremantle has welcomed plans for a film studio to be built at Victoria Quay, saying it would be a terrific boost for the local economy and help reinforce the port city as WA’s ‘creative capital’.
Deputy Mayor Andrew Sullivan said today’s pledge by Premier Mark McGowan that a re-elected Labor state government would fund a $100 million waterfront facility was great news at a time when Fremantle needed new investment.
“We have been really keen to establish a thriving film and television industry here in Fremantle and this is something the City has been working towards for some time,” Cr Sullivan said.
