Byekwaso has stated for them to remain in the title race, they must strive to bridge the gap between them and the sides ahead of them on the log, and admitted if they lose to the Venoms, then they are out of the race.
“We face a tough side in Vipers that are six points clear from us on the table,” Byekwaso told the club’s official website.
“We are fully focused on winning the game and keeping our chase for the title alive.
“We cannot afford to lose any more games as we have hit the final bend of the season. We are affected by injuries and squad depth is a big issue at the club.”
“We are fully focused on winning our game at home and qualifying to the next round.
“We have a target to win the Uganda Cup and the league this season and our hopes are still alive in both competitions.”
KCCA’s assistant captain Julius Poloto and Ashraf Mugume are back in the squad after missing the past three and five games, respectively, due to injury and Byekwaso is confident their return will boost the team’s chances.
“We hope to have Julius [Poloto] or Ashraf [Mugume] back for this game and we shall see how much they can give us in the game depending on the situation,” Byekwaso continued.
“We have no pressure and this is like any other game, we shall go there and try to win the game,” Mutebi told the club’s official website. “We shall play our way and we shall not be worried about the opposition.
“We are not looking at history and how we have been performing against Vipers at Kitende.”
Mutebi has also confirmed the return of his youngsters who represented Uganda in the Afcon U20 tournament held in Mauritania saying they have been included in the squad for the match.
“We are boosted by the return of the kids from the U20 tournament in Mauritania, Steven [Sserwadda], Kizza [Bukenya], and Andrew [Kawooya] will travel with the team to Kitende.”
