Ariel Lanada A NURSE from a hospital in Oxfordshire has been awarded BAME Nurse of the Year in the National BAME Health and Care Awards. Ariel Lanada, divisional educational lead for the neurosciences, orthopaedics, trauma, specialist surgery, children s and neonates division of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was announced as the winner at a virtual ceremony last week. The Awards were launched in 2019 by an enthusiastic group of volunteers from the health and care sector to champion the importance of recognising BAME talent and innovation. Mr Lanada said: “I am incredibly honoured to receive this award. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be able to support my colleagues and the Filipino community.

Filipino nurse Jose Ariel Lañada of the Oxford University Hospitals has been named the United Kingdom’s Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Nurse of the Year for his outstanding work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lañada was declared a joint winner of the award in the National BAME Health & Care Awards during a virtual ceremony on May 6, 2021.

A nurse in Oxford and a Covid-19 matron in West Hertfordshire have jointly won the Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Nurse of the Year award.
Ariel Lanada, a children’s nurse at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was celebrated for his work with the Filipino community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, Theresa Maunganidze, Covid-19 matron at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, was praised for her contribution to the coronavirus testing programme.
The two were recognised for their outstanding work during a virtual ceremony of the National BAME Health and Care Awards, which was held last week.
