Despite repeated claims by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government that Boko Haram terrorists have been degraded and confined to the North-east alone, recent revelations by some Nigerian state governors give cause for worry.
The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, had said that the
Boko Haram terrorist group had since been defeated but the Nigerian military is now fighting an international criminal gang known as Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) reported the Saturday night incident to the state government.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated yesterday that the assailants stormed the home of Sgt. Christopher Madaki (rtd.), ascribe to a ward head at Golkofa, Jema’a Local Council, and shot him, as well as his wife and his son’s wife, identified as Mary.
According to Aruwan, the three victims were later confirmed dead, while the monarch’s son, Clement, survived but with injuries inflicted on him by the assailants.
Hotoro was previously an epicentre for insurgents’ activities in the state, before the terrorists were flushed out by concerted efforts of security forces and residents.
Members of Boko Haram sleeper cells in the area typically attacked security men and churchgoers in drive-by attacks between 2011 and 2013, when they were largely decimated.
The weekend raid, according to a resident of the area, Malam Muhammed Amadi was conducted without drawing much attention.
He explained that the army arrived at the suspect’s residence around 9:15 pm where they surrounded the residence and whisked away some members of the household.
He added that those arrested didn’t resist the arrest and as such not a single gun was fired during the raid.

Nigerian army have arrested 13 suspected Boko Haram members around Filin Lazio, Hotoro axis of Kano State. x
Army spokesman Mohammed Yerima in a statement on Sunday said the arrest was made by troops of 3 Brigade.
Yerima said the suspected insurgents were arrested during an operation conducted by the troops to flush out criminals in the state.

Yerima said the suspected terrorists were arrested around Filin Lazio in Hotoro area of Kano, following a successful operation.
He said that the ongoing operation was predicated on the need to apprehend criminals who might want to hibernate in any part of Kano State.
“The general public especially residents of Filin Lazio Hotoro, are enjoined to go about their lawful businesses as security forces are on top of the situation.
“The Nigerian Army wishes to use this medium to appeal to the peace-loving people of Kano state to maintain a high level of vigilance and continue to report the suspected movement of strange individuals or groups in their environment to the relevant security agencies for prompt action,” he said.
