Like other PC makers, HP experienced a boom in sales during the pandemic as consumers, businesses and schools stocked up on tech products and then a subsequent two-year sales slump. That slump is just now easing.
Qualcomm predicted sales and adjusted profit with a midpoint of $9.30 billion and $2.30 per share for the current fiscal second quarter ending in March. The outlook compares with analyst estimates of $9.30 billion and $2.25 per share, according to data from LSEG.
"This chip likely could not be produced without US technology and thus SMIC may have violated the Department of Commerce s Foreign Direct Product Rule," Gallagher said in a statement. "The time has come to end all U.S. technology exports to both Huawei and SMIC to make clear any firm that flouts U.S. law and undermines our national security will be cut off from our technology."
Nvidia: U.S. officials usually impose export controls for national security reasons. A similar move announced last year signaled an escalation of the U.S. crackdown on China s technological capabilities, but it was not immediately clear what risks were posed by exports to the Middle East.
