PUBLIC WORKERS IN FIJI DISMISSED OVER SICK LEAVE SCAM Submitted by admin on Thu, 02/16/2012 - 00:00 114 Transport Ministry workers provided false ‘sick sheets’ By Tevita Vuibau and Kitione Toroca SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Feb. 15, 2012) – The Ministry of Works, Transport and Public Utilities yesterday announced a further 56 workers have been sacked for their part in a sick sheet scam. They include the 33 workers who were given marching orders last week. This brings to 114 the total number of workers dismissed by the ministry since last December when an initial 58 were sent home. The terminations came about after the ministry noted workers residing as far as Navua producing sick sheets from a medical clinic in Nausori.
