ATTORNEY-GENERAL and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he does not interfere with the work of the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
SODELPA member of Parliament Adi Litia Qionibaravi had this week queried in Parliament the independency of the commission.
Adi Litia said the commission had not filed any constitutional redress and asked whether it had a proceedings commissioner.
She said there could be a conflict of interest.
In response, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said he did not tell them how to run the organisation.
He said the commission was chaired by Chief Justice Kamal Kumar who was an honourable man. He said the proceedings commissioner was a practising solicitor and three other commissioners made up the commission.
Chaudhry says the Economy Minister has no right to deny social protection payments while Raj says it is reckless to insinuate that all other social security measures are put to a halt
