Fiji’s Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has acknowledged the assistance of delegates of the 74th World Health Assembly (WHA) in trying to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
While presenting his report via virtual conference as chairman of Committee B, Dr Waqainabete said the professionalism, diligent work and consistent assistance of fellow delegates had been formidable.
“As we are coming to the end of the 74th Assembly, it is time for us to jointly translate the decisions we make together here into actions back in our countries,” the Fijian Health Minister said.

CHINA DONATES HOSPITAL BEDS TO ASSIST WITH FIJI’S COVID-19 RESPONSE

The People’s Republic of China has donated 17 hospital beds worth FJD25,500 aiding Fiji with its current response to COVID-19.
The assistance is mobilised in appreciation for the work undertaken by Fijian Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to contain the COVID-19 cases.
It will enable MHMS to equip the newly opened Nakasi Health Centre, that has been converted into Fiji’s sixth hospital based isolation facility, and the third in the Central Division in addition to Navua Hospital and CWM Hospital.
In acknowledging this assistance, Minister for Health and Medical Services Hon. Ifereimi Waqainabete thanked the People’s Republic of China for their support to Fiji’s Health sector.
