NOTRE DAME, Indiana University of Notre Dame Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Brian Kelly announced two promotions on his staff Monday. Brian Polian has been named associate head coach, in addition to his special teams coordinator title, while Mike Elston will continue to serve as Bob and Leslie Mohr Family Defensive Line Coach and has added the titles of recruiting coordinator and run game coordinator for the defense.
“These were two very beneficial moves as we continue to develop our staff,” said Kelly. “As special teams coordinator, Brian Polian engages with a lot of the team on a regular basis and in implementing game day decisions. He is essential in helping us understand NCAA legislation, and in building relationships within and beyond our program. Likewise, Mike Elston has done a tremendous job in recruiting and is a natural fit in that role. He has had success designing and organizing our recruiting efforts, and we look forward to him leading us there. Additionally

MONTGOMERY, Alabama RV Notre Dame opened the 2021 softball season at Alabama State’s Stinger Classic Saturday with a 1-1 record on the day. First, the Irish blasted to a 9-0 win over North Alabama, and battled with No. 8 Alabama through five innings until the Tide opened it up to end it 0-10.
Junior outfielder Emma Clark wrote her name in the history books against North Alabama, stealing four bases to match a single-game program record. She joined Ruth Kmak as the only two players in Irish history to steal four bases in a game. Kmak’s record came vs. Loyola-Chicago (April 16, 1990). Clark batted 1.000 in her three at-bats, also notching an RBI.
