This is a pre-K lottery with priority given to 4 year olds and will allow for a limited number of 3 year olds. Visit www.nbtschools.org and click on “preschool lottery” to access the application from the phone or laptop. Applications will be accepted through March 31. The notification of acceptance will be provided on April 23. Registration for accepted applicants will begin immediately after notification of acceptance.   A sock drive to benefit the Ozanam Men’s Shelter in New Brunswick will be conducted from 11 a.m. to noon March 13 in the parking lot of the Presbyterian Church, 100 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

A dogwood branch drawing class will be held at 7 p.m. March 1. This virtual drawing lesson will focus on contour lines. Participants will observe a dogwood flower and learn how to draw it petal by petal. Then participants will have the option to outline the drawing using a thin waterproof marker. To finalize the picture, add a touch of color using watercolors (optional). Supplies needed include pencils, thin black markers, heavyweight paper and watercolor. Community Bulletin Board: the North and South Brunswick Sentinel (for Jan. 13) “Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention: Engaging and Empowering Youth and Families” will be presented at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 by the North Brunswick Public Library. Teens and young adults (ninth grade and up) and their parents/caregivers (general public is also welcome) can join Diana Starace, coordinator of the RWJ Injury Prevention Program, and Healthcare Committee co-chair of the NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking; along with Danny Papa, NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking president, for a virtual presentation intended to educate adolescents how to protect themselves from being exploited by potential traffickers.
