Assaults on staff have more than quadrupled in prisons in yorkshire and lincolnshire over a five year period. In 2013, 326 were recorded. This figure rose to almost 1,400 in 2018. The latest figures show three prisons in particular full sutton, wealstun and wetherby recorded more assaults on staff in the first nine months of 2019 than in the whole of the previous year.
