President Cyril Ramaphosa declares official funeral for boxing promoter Mzi Mnguni

Tsheko Kabasia, Gallo Images, Sowetan President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 for boxing promoter Mzimasi Bra Mzi Mnguni. Mnguni died at the age of 73 at an East London hospital over the weekend. In 2016, Mnguni was awarded the Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in sport by then sports minister Fikile Mbalula.   President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 for world-renowned boxing promoter Mzimasi Bra Mzi Mnguni. Eastern Cape Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture MEC Fezeka Nkomonye made the announcement Mnguni died at the age of 73 at an East London hospital on Saturday, following a long illness after he had a stroke in 2014. As a result of the stroke, he had limited use of his limbs and used a wheelchair.
