Diaz, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) deputy chief of staff for logistics or OJ-4, formally retired from the service on Thursday after more than 34 years in service. In a statement Friday, the AFP honored Diaz's role in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure and facilities that improved the living conditions of troops stationed in remote detachments and stations in the West Philippine Sea. He likewise oversaw the completion of 13 major defense procurements under the AFP Modernization Program. This included the 16 S-70i "Black Hawk" combat utility helicopters, 12 155mm self-propelled howitzers, and 15 armored mortar carriers.
