Voters narrowed the field in four Boston City Council district races during Tuesday's preliminary election, with the top two vote-getters in each race advancing to November's general election.
Roughly 42% of all votes cast by 3 p.m. Tuesday were in the closely-watched District 6 race, where the City Councilor Kendra Lara is trying to hold onto her seat in the wake of a late June car crash that left her facing several charges.
The preliminary municipal election on Tuesday marks the first time voters will have a formal chance to pass judgment not only on the political scandals and ethical lapses dogging Arroyo and Lara, but also on the unproductive two-year term of the Council more broadly.
