Top marketing award for Longford born business owner Reporter: );   ); Longford native Mark Fallon, Director and Co-Founder of specialist financial services recruitment firm Coopman Search and Selection, has won the Small Business Marketing category in The Marketing Institute’s All Ireland Marketing (AIM) Awards 2021. The announcement was made at this year’s AIM Awards ceremony, which was virtually hosted by Bryan Dobson on Friday last, May 21. Born and raised in Longford by parents James and Maureen, along with his four other siblings, Jason, Enda, Shane and Megan, Mark attended Fermoyle National School in Lanesboro and St Mel’s College.

Lanesboro lady to refocus on her art with PLATFORM 31 Bursary Reporter: );   ); Longford artist Emily Brennan has been announced as one of the 31 recipients of the inaugural PLATFORM 31 bursary, the national development scheme for artists to develop their practice and test new ideas of collaboration, research, audience development, place based arts and sharing their work. Emily grew up on a dairy and beef farm just outside Lanesboro and was a pupil of Fermoyle National School before going to Mean Scoil Mhuire in Longford town. “I’m not really sure how I got into it (art). I was just always drawing in my free time. I loved doing art as a subject for Junior Cert and then dropped it for the Leaving thinking that I was going into something biology based,” Emily told the Longford Leader.

Lanesboro and residents & staff of Peamount Hospital bid an emotional farewell to the late Eddie Clouder Late Eddie Clouder, Rathcline, Lanesboro, Longford / Newcastle, Dublin Reporter: );   ); The news of the death at Tallaght Hospital on Tuesday, February 16 of Eddie Clouder, shocked all of us that knew him. Eddie was a relative of the Reilly family, Rathcline.  Eddie, during his lifetime, experienced a slight disability. In his formative years he went to Fermoyle National School. Like us all at that time, Eddie was a frequent visitor to Eddie Kelly’s cinema and had a passion for hurling and Manchester United.

Eleven Longford primary schools connected to broadband by the end of 2022 Reporter: ); Eleven Longford primary schools are to be connected to broadband by the end of 2022. The schools are: Scoil Mhuire, Aughnagarron; Killasonna Mixed National School; Naomh Earnain NS Killashee; Muckerstaff National School; Gaigue National School; Scoil Bhríde, Glen; Fermoyle National School; Forgney National School; Saint Patrick’s National School; Cloontagh Mixed National School and Naomh Guasachta National School (Bunlahy).  679 schools nationwide are to be connected in an acceleration of the National Broadband Plan (NBP) announced by the Government and NBI last Thursday, December 10.  Under the originally planned roll out, some schools would have had to wait up to seven years for connection. Now, all schools will be connected within two years.
