The breakthrough, described this month in the journal PRX Quantum, suggests a viable quantum internet could soon be a reality. Advertisement Quantum teleportation is essential for many quantum information technologies, including long-distance quantum networks, according to the study s authors. Quantum teleportation is made possible by the quantum phenomenon known as entanglement, which describes two inextricably linked particles, whereby the measure or manipulation of one particle is observed in the other, regardless o

Straight out of sci-fi: Scientists achieve long-distance quantum teleportation for the first time

https://www.hangthecensors.com/484846.html (Natural News) Scientists have successfully “beamed up” units of quantum information known as qubits over a great distance for the first time. Led by scientists from the California Institute of Technology, a team of researchers demonstrated this so-called “quantum teleportation” across 27 miles of fiber optics in two testbeds: the Caltech Quantum Network (CQNET) and the Fermilab Quantum Network (FQNET). Qubits, the quantum equivalent of computer bits, were “teleported” at speeds faster than light and with high “fidelity” (closeness) between the original qubit and the resulting qubit. Detailed in the journal PRX Quantum, the successful demonstration lays the groundwork for a quantum internet service that could one day revolutionize computing.

Quantum information teleported at Fermilab, Caltech represents step toward quantum internet

Fermilab and partners achieve sustained, high-fidelity quantum teleportation Dec 28, 2020 Quantum information ‘teleported’ at Fermilab, Caltech represents step toward quantum internet A viable quantum internet a network in which information stored in qubits is shared over long distances through entanglement would transform the fields of data storage, precision sensing and computing, ushering in a new era of communication. This month, scientists at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory affiliated with the University of Chicago along with partners at five institutions took a significant step in the direction of realizing a quantum internet. In a paper published in

First-Ever Long Distance Quantum Teleportation Achieved, Media Says

First-Ever Long Distance Quantum Teleportation Achieved, Media Says Sputnik International https://sputniknews.com/science/202012241081563156-first-ever-long-distance-quantum-teleportation-achieved-media-says/ One of the researchers involved in the study said that the results they ve achieved will be further improved with system upgrades they now expect to complete in 2021. A joint team of researchers from Fermilab, AT&T, Caltech, Harvard University, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and University of Calgary has for the first time managed to attain a sustained teleportation of qubits of photons over a distance of 44 km of fibre, with SciTechDaily describing this achievement as a significant step in the direction of realising a quantum internet.
