New Red Hand recruit looking forward to getting started

New Red Hand recruit looking forward to getting started January 06, 2021 Tyrone s Mark McKearney in action for Holy Trinity College Cookstown. Mark McKearney is looking forward to becoming part of the Tyrone senior football squad for 2021. McKearney was rewarded for his impressive performances for Dungannon Thomas Clarke s in their run to a first Tyrone SFC title in 54 years last September, and, along with club-mate Paul Donaghy, is among the fresh faces added to the Red Hand ranks. Meanwhile, new management duo Fergal Logan and Brian Dooher have enticed Lee Brennan and Connor McAliskey back into the fold.  The talented Clarke s youngster has set his sights on winning the Ulster SFC title and trying to close the gap on six-in-a-row All-Ireland champions Dublin.

Joe Brolly: Dublin s glorious band of brothers, Limerick s dynasty and why Louth s loss is Tyrone s gain

It was the year that Mickey Harte finally landed his dream job, Dublin won six in a row, and Donald Trump lost the presidency. Trump s America is ending as it began. A sociopath, after all, cannot change his sociospots. Last week, his favourite lawyer, Lin Wood, claimed that the US Supreme Court s Chief Justice John Roberts was a murderer and paedophile. He also tweeted that Jeffrey Epstein is alive! Interestingly, Elvis said exactly the same thing to me when I bumped into him outside Tesco on the Lisburn Road on Friday. On Wednesday, Trump attacked Georgia s Republican secretary of state, Brad Raffensberger, tweeting that Brad s brother Ron works for China. So disgusting! When it was pointed out to him that Brad does not have a brother called Ron and he has never been in China, Trump called it fake news . Wouldn t it be nice to be standing behind Trump as a high-dropping ball came into the crowded square?

New Tyrone joint-manager Fergal Logan says it’s not going to be easy to follow Mickey Harte’s act after 18 years as Red Hands boss. Harte led his native county to three All-Ireland titles during his reign, including an inaugural Sam Maguire Cup triumph in 2003, and is considered to be one of the greatest managers in GAA history. November saw him stepping down as Tyrone manager and in the weeks that followed Logan and Brian Dooher were appointed as new joint-managers, confirming a new era in the O’Neill County.
