Qatar s residential units stock for Q1 hits 304,715
DOHA, 11 hours, 37 minutes ago Qatar s residential units stock for the first three months of the year stood at 304,715, with the addition of 1,700 apartments and villas during the period, according to UAE-based consulting firm ValuStrat. Some 6,300 units are currently in the pipeline for the remaining quarters of 2021, it stated. The median transacted ticket size for residential houses was QR2.7mn, increased by 3.4% quarterly and 6.8% annually, added the report. According to ValuStrat, the apartment supply consisted of 1,650 units coming from project handovers in Lusail (Fox Hills and Marina District), The Pearl, Al Dafna, Mirqab Al Jadeed and Fereej Abdul Aziz.

When it comes to searching properties for residential villas and apartments, The Pearl-Qatar is the most sought after destination for residents. According to ‘Trends- Qatar Real Estate Market Report’ for 2020 by Property Finder, The Pearl-Qatar has emerged on top of the list of searches for apartment for sale and rents in 2020. West Bay, Lusail City, Al Waab, Al Sadd, Gharrafa are other areas which were among the top searches by property buyers.
“It comes as no surprise that The Pearl remains the top searched area when it comes to apartment rentals in Qatar, especially as more units become available, and prices continue to drop,” said the report. “As one of the most in demand areas in the country, it has dominated almost 27 percent of all searches for apartment rentals in 2020. For poorly paid expatriate workers already battling the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on their jobs, Qatar s surprise New Year subsidy cut against the Australian lamb industry has come as an additional blow.
Many restaurants that offered mutton dishes to the country s large workforce for a price as low as eight Qatari riyals ($2.20) have stopped serving them, while others have reluctantly increased prices but fear losing customers.
