pass judgment. if the department of homeland security was forced to go on offense today after democratic senator jeff merkley revealed $10 million of fema money was transferred to immigration and customs enforcement. clearly these are funds that are very valuable in terms of preparing for the types of challenges we fat in the past few weeks. dhs fired back the money was not earmarked for preparedness it was money left over for travel expenses, training, basic purchase cards, office supplies that came in under budget and could not have been used for hurricane response due to appropriation limitations. dhs officials pointed out the amount of money in the disaster recovery fund stands at $25 billion. that s 2500 times the amount of money that was transferred from fema to ice. dhs officials telling fox the mission impact on fema response and recovery of this transfer of funds is zero. bret: john roberts on the north lawn, thanks.
