Warming space opens at First Presbyterian Church

Article content A new warming space has opened for some of Kenora’s most vulnerable people at the First Presbyterian Church. The space in the lower hall of the church on Fifth Avenue South will be open seven days a week from 4-9 p.m. The hall will provide snacks and a warm place for Kenora’s homeless community to have a safe space to come to.  We apologize, but this video has failed to load. Warming space opens at First Presbyterian Church Back to video The hall, operated by Kenora Moving Forward and Spirituality Meets Homelessness fills the need left by Compassionate Kenora, which closed on Dec. 31. The clinic was providing primary care to the city’s homeless population on Main Street and shut down due to noise complaints from neighbouring tenants.

Christmas Eve guests find belonging at The Bridge

  SASKATOON The Bridge On 20th Fellowship Centre held a Christmas Eve dinner on Thursday, giving guests a chance to get to get together in a year when many have been apart. “Today is the day that we can celebrate and maybe bring a bit of Christmas joy and cheer into their lives,” executive director Linda Walker said. The centre also had a live musical performance and handed out presents to the guests. Walker expected up to 300 people to attend. “Having this beautiful supper and everything, I just love it,” said guest David Cervo. “It’s someplace for me to go to and also, it gives me a sense of belonging,” added guest Clifford Semchyshen.
