Eat Just to Launch French-Style Vegan Egg Bites Nationwide

Shares In March, California-based startup Eat Just is launching a line of vegan JUST Egg Sous Vide bites at select grocery stores nationwide. The new egg bites are made through the sous vide (a French term that means “under vacuum” in English) cooking method where food is vacuum-sealed and cooked at a low temperature. The mung bean-based JUST Egg Sous Vide bites will be available in four, world cuisine-inspired flavors: America (roasted potato, dill, chives, red bell pepper, and black pepper); India (curry, broccoli, cauliflower, coconut milk, and lemongrass); Japan (portabello mushrooms, yams, togarashi, soy, and tamari); and Mexico (roasted poblano peppers, chipotle chile powder, black beans, corn, and lime). The new vegan egg bites will be sold frozen in packs of four and can be cooked in an oven, toaster, or microwave.

Sous vide is a cooking technique in which food is vacuum-sealed in a container and slowly cooked in water at a consistent temperature. Just Egg Sous Vide Plant Egg Bites, which come frozen and can be heated in an oven or microwave, come in four varieties with international flair: America with roasted potato, dill, chives, red bell pepper and black pepper; India with curry, broccoli, cauliflower, coconut milk and lemongrass; Japan  with portobello mushrooms, yams, togarashi, soy and tamari; and Mexico with roasted poblanos, chipotle chile powder, black beans, corn and lime.

Sous vide supplier launches virtual brands out of NYC kitchen

Pret A Manger location tests delivery/takeout-only concepts as a ‘dark kitchen’ for Cuisine Solutions A Pret A Manger location in New York City has become a test site for a handful of virtual brands created by one of its suppliers. In addition to its own menu, the store is offering items from five chef-driven concepts created by Cuisine Solutions, a supplier of sous vide ingredients for foodservice. The items are being made to order in the restaurant’s basement kitchen, and are available for takeout and delivery through third-party delivery firms. Dubbed CS DAK for Cuisine Solutions Dark Assembly Kitchen the group is testing five brands created by Cuisine Solutions, which supplies the fully cooked, sous vide products to the Pret kitchen. Currently chefs from Cuisine Solutions are working side-by-side with Pret’s staff, but during the next few weeks Pret’s kitchen workers are expected to take over the preparation of the items.
