i m paula reid. jim acosta has the day off. you are in the cnn newsroom. we begin with breaking news. the u.s. military has shot down another high-altitude object, this time over lake huron. this is according to aus u.s. official and a congressional source briefed on the matter. this would be the fourth object brought down by u.s. fighter jets in the past nine days. cnn s kylie atwood is at the state department. kylie, war you learning? that s right, paula. and the third object brought down in just the last three days. of course, we re learning that this high-altitude object was traveling and so the down over lake huron, north of michigan, in between michigan and canada. that is according to a u.s. official and a congressional source briefed on the matter. it appears that members of congress from michigan are learning more about this in conversations with the pentagon today. i want to read to you what congresswoman slotkin tweeted just in the last few hours or so, saying,

where the 737 max is assembled. there was a lot to talk about what happened friday in portland. new details today. boeing gave instructions for the inspection and maintenance of the grounded max 9s. the ntsb is investing a 737 max 9 that had the mid cabin door plug blow off at 16,000 feet elevation. a teacher discovered the door was in his back yard and then he alerted officials. it was all in one piece. came down as a single unit. it was lying in my back yard. so it was caught in the trees at the time. luckily no one was in the two seats closest to the hole and nobody was hurt. it was scary until the plane made an emergency landing in portland 16 minutes later. the faa grounded all max 9s that
minutes after the take-off with the plane at 16,000 feet elevation. 171 passengers on board along with six crew members. the cab-in lost pressure, oxygen masks came down. a boy s shirt was ripped off his body and cell phones flew out of the plane. air traffic controllers did not know if it was a terrorist attack or not. wide as a refrigerator and high as 2/three of a refrigerator in flight. all the air masks dropped. no injuries, a boeing executive told me on background he has never seen anything like this before. it almost has to be a mistake made when that door plug was installed. that job was done by spirit aero
