A COUNCILLOR has quizzed sport and leisure bosses over the future of a vital community centre. Soryia Siddique is putting pressure on Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life as budget cuts mean there is no reopening date for Govanhill Community Centre. The South Side politician has sought reassurance the building, in an area with stark inequalities will reopen. Soryia said: Govanhill faces stark inequalities across a range of social, economic, health and environmental factors. Local community groups and service users have contacted me regarding the importance of reopening of their local community centre - and its importance on health, wellbeing and social interaction for all communities in Govanhill.
